Colonial Day...
In 4th grade, one of the fun things the kids get to participate in is Colonial Day. Each of the children dress up, as they would in colonial times, they learn a colonial dance (and they get to dance with a boy for the FIRST time LOL), they also have colonial activities they can participate in. There's actually 8 different activities, and the kids got to choose the 4 they were most interested in learning.
Aubrey chose, games, making corn husk dolls, needle point and making yummy smelly stuff. She had the best time, though she was "worried" about dancing with a boy, but in the end she had fun - and honestly I think they did too. I love how this year the teacher's are REALLY incorporating fun activities into the school year, the kids got to envelop themselves into what it would have been like to be living in colonial times. It's neat!
Here's some shots of her, enjoying her day with her classmates (and even her teacher got to dance!)

Aubrey is simply beautiful! I love the concentration on her face as she's wrapping the hoop.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful series of photos (as always!) and looks like a very fun event. The children look adorable!! The color and clarity of your photos is always perfect.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day! Where did they get the costumes? These are great photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat series, looks like she really enjoyed herself. The dancing with a boy thing - oh, she'll get over that way too soon. ;0)
ReplyDeleteTess, we actually made a mad dash for the costume at 8 PM the night before - Aubrey kept telling me she has something to wear, till the night before - then she told me she really needed something. LOL KIDS! So we ran to party city - we were at one earlier in the day that did not have anything costume wise so this was our last resort and they had ONE left in her size! :) It was fate I tell ya...
ReplyDeleteOh these are priceless. Just wonderful. Stunning photos, and what a great experience for the kids. My son had "Pilgrim Day" in second grade (he is now 18.) I helped in the room, making candles. I can still feel the burning in my throat from the wax melting.... I wish I had photos as wonderful as these from that day.
ReplyDeleteWonderful series! Great work!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the costumes and her glasses actually add just the right finishing touch! So cute!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks awesome and tons of fun! Great shots.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful she has these photographs to save that childhood memory. She's going to thank you someday. Well photographed. If they have a yearbook, they may be interested in using these.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of a wonderful day!
